As well as producing one-off prototypes, we are also highly capable of manufacturing low volume quantities. We have been requested to produce 10 wall plaques for an international jewellery company, to be mounted in each of their worldwide stores.
The customer supplied us with 3D model data, from which we produced a mould by CNC machining high-density model board. The plaques were then produced in GRP, (Glass Reinforced Polyester) or Fiberglass.
This material was chosen for this project due to the endless properties of fibreglass. Because there are so few constraints on size, shape, colours and finishes, using GRP allows the aesthetics of our work to take precedence over manufacturing costs. With projects that require our model makers to attain a high standard finish, cost efficiency must be taken into consideration.
Once the fibreglass plaques were ready for finishing, the final effect the client requested was an antique silver finish. We achieved this by painting and finishing each model by hand. As the plaques had raised detail and were relatively ornate, hand finishing is ideal to gain an antiquated effect.
