Artwork fabrication and sculpture projects at all scales. Large 5 axis CNC, metalwork fabrication, paint shop, GRP, 3D CAD design, dedicated model making team and full engineering facilities all under one roof and just outside London at the end of the central line.

J H May works with the world’s premier artists and sculptors to produce often complex and technically demanding pieces in a wide variety of materials. We are happy to make in all metals and plastics and any other material which can be formed into a shape. If you’d like to see some of our artwork fabrication case studies click on the link.

Our artwork services are focused on providing a comprehensive solution to the individual piece or series. By having all the necessary equipment and skill in-house we are cost effective and can offer compressed delivery times. In addition our design team can offer assistance throughout the design and build process. Using our SolidWorks and Delcam Powershape 3D CAD systems we have the ability to provide a full drawing package if required. If the artwork concept is in sketch or 2D format we can convert to a full 3D model. This really helps to visualise the piece but more importantly it permits the use or the latest 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC machining and 3D printing technology. The employment of these technologies drastically improves production efficiency, quality and making time.

The relationship between our production team and the artist are of utmost importance during the build process. By having all aspects of the project in a 3D CAD format ideas can be exchanged and the inevitable problems solved quickly with all parties having a clear vision of the end result. We can also offer advice on the installation and other technical aspects of a project. In SolidWorks we carry out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine material stress points and wind loading’s for exterior structures. We are also used to working with structural engineers and health and safety consultants where required.
