Among rapid prototypes and model-making we are often required to produce awards and trophies for company events. The most recent award we have made has been a golden globe. The client required the globe to appear solid and heavy, and would be the size of a cannonball, with raised details of the continents.

Working to a tight budget we assisted our customer in keeping the project cost efficient. We produced a 3D CAD model design of the globe in Solidworks and then created an STL file to be used for rapid prototyping.

We then created 3D SLA prototypes of the models, which were in turn painted and polished to achieve a highly reflective surface. They were then vacuum metalized gold.

In order to retain the cost efficiency of the model we produced it hollow and then filled with sand to achieve the heavy weight the customer had required. Producing this from solid would have led to the initial material cost being considerably higher.

The client was more than happy with the finished product. We create all type of trophies for many different types of organisations. We take pride in all our work and make sure the client is happy with the results every time.
