Awards and trophies are often requested as part of our bespoke model making service, namely because these are usually required as single units or very low quantities. Many consist of a variety of materials in order to achieve the finishes and style the customer has specified.
The business network company LinkedIn required a set of 5 awards, these were produced incorporating both acrylic and aluminium. An aluminium base was CNC machined and brush anodized to achieve an aesthetic finish. Having the capabilities to machine various materials and a large selection of surface finishes available means we are able to accomplish a range of our clients design specifications.
A plaque was then machined from clear acrylic, with cavities for the letters machined out. White acrylic was then used to create the letters by CNC machining to the exact size in order for them to fit the clear acrylic plaque perfectly, leaving a flush surface. The acrylic was then highly polished to remove any flaws and imperfections.
Acrylic rods were produced to hold the plaque into the aluminium base. The hand-finishing skills of our model-makers are highlighted with tasks such as these as glue has to be very carefully applied to acrylic, otherwise it will be visible once dry.
Once assembled, we were supplied with the names of the companies’ winners. We then completed the awards by applying screen printed graphics of the names.
If you would like to find out about having your own award created then get in contact with the team who will be more than happy to help you create your own award.
