Amongst many of our high-end customers, the most recent project we have worked on has been for Chanel.
In the lead-up to the Christmas period, Chanel required eye-catching models for their window displays at their various outlets. We were supplied the design of the iconic No.5 bottle, to be manufactured to stand at 1.3 metres high.
Initially we fabricated two bottles. Using 10mm acrylic sheet which had been sawn and planed with mitre joints to achieve the look of rounded corners, these pieces were then bonded with clear adhesive. This technique was used to produce both the lid and the main body of the bottles, using solid acrylic discs which had been CNC machined and polished to create the neck.
To achieve the look of the bottles being full of liquid, the base was created with an arch and tinted transparent vinyl, which had been colour matched to the perfume, was applied to the acrylic sheets. Once the three sections had been bonded together, our model makers applied printed logos on the neck and front of the model to complete the bottles.
In total we supplied 15 of these large scale models, the only change in our production methods was to produce the lids from solid acrylic. These started as large blocks and were CNC machined down to size, then polished to a high standard to attain a flawless and glass-like surface.
When supplying models for projects such as this, aesthetics is always of up most importance to our customers, so being flexible in our manufacturing methods is extremely beneficial.
Once complete, the models were sent to various locations across the country. In order to guarantee safe delivery they were packaged in bespoke packing cases, designed for ease of use by the receiver.
