Architectural Display Model

Architectural display model

Many of our projects are required within a very tight lead-time, and having the combination of machines and the varied skills of our model-makers is hugely beneficial for such tasks. As we are capable of completing a majority of processes on-site, this reduces our need to send work out for sub-contracting, leaving our turnaround times extremely competitive.

Our most recent urgent project was an architectural display model for use in an exhibition, making the deadline non-negotiable, giving us just two days to complete the model.

This model was approximately 15” in length, and was to illustrate the layout of an exhibition stand. A base was fabricated from acrylic, and as our client only required a very simplistic white model, many of the smaller details were produced by hand.

The tables and chairs were made from cut pieces of clear acrylic bar, using larger diameter bar for the table and smaller bar for the chairs. Pieces of flat Perspex were moulded into shape to form the benches, and a similar process was used to produce a staircase.

The few details required, such as posters, wood flooring and brand logos, were added by applying scaled self-adhesive graphics. The finishing touch was to add several model people to demonstrate the scale of the model stand, and a clear Perspex cover fitted to protect it whilst still being able to view the details.
