World Cup Laser Scan and CNC Machining Project
Nike World Cup 3D CNC Machining Project - See the "Making Of" Video

We were part of a team of companies involved in producing this brilliant billboard advert for the Nike World Cup advertising campaign. To re-create this alternative version of Mount Rushmore we had to meet the players and carry out 3D laser scans. Following this process, which took us all over the country, we were able to create 3D CAD data from which we could CNC machine the 4 metre high heads. Each head was broken down into manageable sections for CNC machining in polystyrene and then assembled ready for installation and finishing.
Sanyo Video Cameras - Up-scale Your Products for Exhibitions and Marketing.
As part of a product launch we were tasked to produce large scale accurate models using the actual equipment as our only reference. With only a few weeks to complete the job we 3D laser scanned the palm sized device and created a 3D CAD file. From this file we were then able to directly CNC machine the cameras at the specified scale in a high density foam material. We then gave the two cameras a high end paint job and securely mounted them to trailers ready for Sanyo's European launch of the product.

3D laser scanning technology can also be utilised in the reverse engineering of vital mechanical parts where accuracy is paramount. We were supplied with an existing tube train main drive component (grey part in picture) which we 3D laser scanned to create a 3D cad model. Using this data we were able to create full working drawings via our Solidworks CAD software. Following customer approval of the drawings we CNC machined the components from solid aviation grade aluminium directly from the CAD data. This process can be used for all types on components in any material and it really comes into its own for small quantities and where the original data/tooling no longer exists.
