Laser Scanning Reverse Engineering
By host on 16/03/2012 10:36
Some products require reverse engineering due to CAD data not being available. This means an existing component of the part to be manufactured has to be 3D laser scanned first, in order to create 3D CAD files. Once the 3D cad file has been created we can utilise rapid prototyping techniques to make models which can be checked to validate the laser scan data. Following validation the same data is used to create the part in the production material on either a 3 axis or 5 axis CNC milling machine.

LinkedIn Industry Awards
By host on 16/03/2012 10:35

Awards and trophies are often requested as these are usually required as single units or very low quantities. Many consist of a variety of materials in order to achieve the finishes and style the customer has specified. The business network company LinkedIn required a set of 5 awards, these were produced incorporating both acrylic and aluminium. An aluminium base was CNC machined and brush anodised to achieve an aesthetic finish. Having the capabilities to machine various materials and a large selection of surface finishes available means we are able to accomplish a range of our clients design specifications.

Nike Footballers - CNC Machined Polystyrene
By host on 16/03/2012 10:34

Size varies enormously from project to project, the smallest we have produced is a model Ford Ka approximately 1.5 inches in length, the largest being our most recent project of famous heads measuring 4 metres high and 3 metres wide. This latest project is an imitation of Mount Rushmore, and owing to the World Cup season Nike has replaced the presidents with four renowned England football players. The faces of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Theo Walcott and James Milner were 3D laser scanned in order to create files for us to use for machining.

By host on 16/03/2012 10:33

3D Training ChartExhibition and display models are often required within a very tight turnaround, the most recent model we have completed for an exhibition had a two week lead time. The model was to represent a 3D training chart, consisting of polystyrene balls and arrows to lead the client around the training points.

Wind Turbine Model
By host on 16/03/2012 10:32
Many factors need to be considered when using various materials. During production of a 1:16 scaled wind turbine model, the amount of Ureol being used was adding unnecessary weight to the model. This was overcome by excess material being machined out. As the main base was CNC machined in two halves, this made accessing and removing the unrequired material easier for our modelmakers. The space gained inside the base also provided us with a slot for an aluminium support tube to provide stability to the entire model.

Sanyo CNC Camera Models
By host on 16/03/2012 10:32

Sanyo CNC Camera ModelsWe had been requested to produce 2 models of Sanyo cameras for use as an advertising campaign. Our customer sent us cameras for use as reference purposes to match the colours and details. As 3D CAD was not available, the cameras were 3D digitally scanned and data was produced from this. We were able to directly CNC machine the 1.5 metre high models from these 3D CAD files.
