Our skills are often called upon to produce models to be used in exhibitions, the most recent we have completed were three models of mobile phones and holders.

Each unit was different and made up of 12 separate parts, the bases of the models were a charger unit, pager unit and answering machine unit. Our customer supplied us with fully surfaced CAD files, from which we could directly machine the pieces.

We also used high resolution SLA models, this is a finer build which results in a neater finish, and created the screens by CNC machining and hand polishing clear Perspex. To achieve a high standard appearance, each piece was hand finished in order to remove the build lines, then bead blasted to prepare the surfaces for painting by our modelmakers.

Once the surfaces are uniform they are then ready to be primed and painted in our customers specific colours, this preparation ensures an even finish after painting.

The mobile phone models also had plastic key mats moulded and painted in the required colours, with letter graphics and a “soft-feel” lacquer applied. Finishing touches such as this guarantee the high standard required for models used in exhibitions and displays.

Each model was then assembled by hand, ready for next day delivery to the exhibition in Europe.
